Responding to a query from a fan on Twitter, Noctua has confirmed that they have decided to halt the development of their white Chromax series fans, citing a shift in focus towards other projects. The company stated that it's currently uncertain whether the project will be revived in the future.

This announcement comes as disappointing news for Noctua enthusiasts, who have been eagerly awaiting the release of the white Chromax fans ever since they were first showcased at CES 2019. However, after more than four years since their debut, it's now apparent that these plans have been abandoned.

Noctua has redirected its attention to other ventures, notably their upcoming next-generation 140mm fan design and the next iteration of their NH-D15 heatsink, both slated for launch in Q2 2024 alongside a new NH-L12 design. Furthermore, Noctua aims to introduce their next 140mm fans in black in Q4 2024.

"We have made the decision to put all our focus and resources on technical development projects like the next-gen 14cm fan, so the white fans have been put on hold and removed from our roadmap. At this stage, it is unclear if the project will be revived in the future or not," the official tweet read.

The timing of Noctua's decision to forgo white hardware is somewhat perplexing, especially considering the recent surge in popularity of white PC components. Companies like Gigabyte have unveiled new white PC products at CES 2024, while PowerColor and XFX have teased white variants of their graphics cards, indicating a growing demand for such hardware. However, Noctua seems to be missing out on this trend for the time being.

"The fact that you have no white fans is the only reason i don't use noctua anymore and it bothers me more than i care to admit, i did consider gray for my white build but decided against it," a user remarked.

In addition to the white Chromax fans setback, Noctua has faced challenges in meeting product release timelines in recent years. The next-generation NH-D15, initially slated for a late 2021 launch, has been delayed, with the company now targeting a release in Q2 2024 according to their roadmap.
