OnePlus, a subsidiary of Oppo known for its innovative hardware, recently brought attention to its Glacier Battery project with confirmations shared on Friday via Weibo posts.
The company claimed that the Glacier Battery represents a significant advancement in battery technology, promising more efficient and durable solutions compared to previous models. OnePlus asserts that this new battery will retain approximately 80% of its original capacity even after four years of continuous use, surpassing the industry standard of 800 charging cycles.
Initially rumored to feature a 6,100mAh capacity, OnePlus has now officially announced plans to integrate this battery into its upcoming Ace 3 Pro smartphone, set for release next week.
The Glacier Battery boasts an impressive 763 Wh/L energy density and weighs only 14 grams. It supports 100W fast charging, enabling the 6,100mAh battery to recharge fully in just 36 minutes.
Developed in collaboration with CATL and drawing from expertise in the electric vehicle field, OnePlus has optimized manufacturing processes to enhance the physical characteristics of these batteries.
