OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has long stayed out of the limelight since the heated up fiasco that involved his ouster from the company and reinstatement. But, days are gone when the brain behind ChatGPT was discussed in controversial subjects, now the pragmatic AI tycoon is up to something really big.

Which AI device is Sam Altman working on

You must be wondering what would Altman be up to when a high-end, screen-less artificial intelligence (AI) device belongs to his portfolio. Well, make a wild guess after paying a mindful heed to this statement: He's teamed up with Jony Ive. Yes! You heard right. According to MacRumors, very little about the AI device is out in the open, however; what's certain is that the device won't bear any resemblance to a smartphone in terms of its appearance.

Given that, something which might give us a little idea of what Altman's upcoming AI device will look like is that he's a major investor in the Humane AI pin, a wearable gadget with no screen. That being said, the probability of him designing a likewise device with Ive escalates.

The partnership has been in the headlines since last fall, but nothing solid emerged in almost a year. Reportedly, the amount Altman and Ive are eyeing to secure in funding for the latest unidentified project is around $1 billion.

The duo has already held talks with SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, with major investors including Thrive Capital, an OpenAI investor, and Emerson Collective — a venture capital firm and philanthropic organisation founded by Laurene Powell Jobs.
