Opera, a multi-platform web browser, is set to launch its revamped Opera One browser on iOS as a stable release after checking it in the beta phase for weeks. The redesigned browser has a bottom-placed search bar for simple browsing, quick search suggestions while typing, and an Aria artificial intelligence (AI) assistant addition.
However, the placed search bar is set to be the default option, users can select to switch to Standard Navigation or Fast Action Button style. Moreover, users can always swipe down to bring the search bar — as you do it for Spotlight search on iOS.
How does Redesigned Opera work on iOS?
When typing any doubt in the search engine, it generally offers you autocomplete options. Currently, Opera would also provide autocomplete options in chipsets below the search box to speed up your search.
Opera claimed it has made subtle design changes to the browser. When scrolling on a page, the browser will hide the bottom and the top bar for a full-screen view. Additionally, the colour of the top status bar will match a site’s theme.
The company is also changing its old newsfeed with a new carousel view to have personalised news, live scores, and more.
App analytics firm Sensor Tower said that the Opera browser has been installed more than 50 million times on iOS since 2020. However, the browser’s year-on-year growth has stopped with 58%, 25%, and 4% growth in downloads for 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Opera’s largest market is the European Union (EU) because of regulation changes forcing iOS to provide a browser choice screen to users, the browser noticed a 122% download increase in Q2 2024.
