Pakistan is experiencing a severe internet outage due to damage in two of the seven international submarine cables, which has deeply affected everything, especially online business all over the country, tarnishing the country's image worldwide.

All the users have gradually switched to the Virtual private network (VPN) to continue their businesses, as the internet has been 40% slower than normal since July.

But, many weeks after the ongoing internet issue, the Pakistan government has taken a few measures to provide secure internet connections.

According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), “To facilitate businesses of software houses, call centres, freelancers, and foreign embassies for legal, protected, and uninterrupted operations VPNs are now registered under ”one window” operations available at PTA and PSEB website.”

“It is an ongoing activity which is being continuously streamlined by PTA, MoIT, PSEB and P@SHA. Over 20,000 IPs have been registered for VPNs since 2020.”

It’s certainly a great step towards the development of the country, as an information technology (IT) expert said that these registered VPNs won’t crash when all the services are blocked.

PTA further added, that to ensure incessant online businesses, users are required to register their VPNs at:
