CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the Phantom Liberty expansion of Cyberpunk 2077, featuring Idris Elba, has reached a significant milestone by selling 4.3 million copies since its launch. The developer unveiled this achievement in its recent earnings report, highlighting the expansion's critical acclaim and impressive sales of three million within its debut week.

Piotr Nielubowicz, the chief financial officer, stated in a video, "Our estimates indicate that sales for the expansion have surpassed 4.3 million copies as of last weekend. This equates to approximately one in every five owners of the base game on PC or next-gen consoles also owning the expansion."

This success precedes the upcoming sale of the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on December 5, bundling Phantom Liberty, which is expected to further elevate its sales.

Breaking down the platform sales in October 2023, CD Projekt Red disclosed that 68% of the expansion's copies were sold on PC, with 20% on PlayStation 5 and 13% on Xbox Series X and S. Moreover, the developer revealed that the development cost of the expansion was around 275 million Polish Zloty (approximately $62.7 million), with an additional 95 million Polish Zloty (around $21.6 million) spent on marketing.

In IGN's review, they awarded a score of 9/10, affirming, "Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty marks a significant turnaround for CD Projekt Red's RPG trajectory, following the success of the anime spin-off Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the transformative 2.0 Update."
