Sony has brought back the wallet funds reward for PlayStation Stars, allowing users to exchange their in-store cash points. It was removed suddenly in October without any explanation from the company is coming back.

Users can now redeem $5 worth of wallet points at a time, but it would be offered once per transaction redemption.

Sony introduced PlayStation Stars in 2022 and it had multiple controversies regarding it. However PlayStation Stars finally made a comeback in July following a whole month of downtime. Sony provided no explanation for the downtime and did not compensate users for its outage.

The rewards of $5 worth are available again, but users can no longer make a variety of denominations. Users can attain $5 as many times as they like until they have enough points to redeem it. Removal of the loyalty programme can be due to mistakes or backlash.

Moreover, the points claimed will expire after 12 months rather than 24 months it has been changed ever since October 24, 2023. Users won’t be able to attain points from PlayStation Plus subscriptions starting from March 1, 2025.

Consumers are dissatisfied with these changes and PlayStation Stars is facing criticism. Many of the consumers are expressing their loss of trust in this programme.
