The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) hosted the Cybersecurity Awards 2024 in Islamabad on Tuesday to honour and celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of telecom's industry in improving cybersecurity across Pakistan’s telecom industry.
The event was organised to praise the utmost efforts of individuals' unwavering commitment to preventing cybercrimes and improving digital security in the telecom sector.
Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawja reaffirmed that the government envisioned developing a robust and legal framework to strengthen cybersecurity, holding great significance for Pakistan’s economic stability and cyber defence strategy.

She further highlighted the importance of joint efforts across different industries to strengthen a secure ecosystem, contributing to the development of the country.
Furthermore, PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman HI addressed PTA’s progressive initiative, promoting a visionary cybersecurity culture.
He stressed the need for consistent efforts and cooperation between telecom operators, government officials, and more to strengthen a commendable defence mechanism against the great complexities of cyber threats.
Top-ranking telecom officials were appreciated by presenting shields for contributing to upscaling Pakistan on the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI).
Additionally, PTA launched its 2024 Cybersecurity Annual Reports, offering an extensive array of groundbreaking initiatives aimed towards the enhancement of the country's cybersecurity infrastructure.
The report was presented along with an in-depth analysis of Pakistan’s cybersecurity rankings, which is soon to be available for the country’s access on the PTA website.
Moreover, the Cybersecurity Awards 2024 also exhibited the persistent advancements to develop resilient telecom infrastructure to combat heinous crimes and illegal activities that are aimed at eliminating cyber risks, essential to cement Pakistan as a leader in cybersecurity on a global and regional scale.
