ISLAMABAD: In a bid to ease the hectic procedure of biometric verification of applicants and licensees of telecom services in the country, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and NADRA signed an agreement.

Signed at the PTA Headquarters in Islamabad, the signing ceremony was attended by the Chairman PTA Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman and Chairman NADRA Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar.

During the inaugural ceremony of the event, the PTA Chairman termed the collaboration as a fruitful initiative to infuse efficiency and transparency into the process of licensing.

This accord, he added, will also serve as a catalyst to ensure simplified workflow for telecom service license applicants.

Similarly, the NADRA Chairman remarked that the organisation will grant its vast network for biometric verification services. This feat will be attained by making the most of various NADRA e-Sahulat franchisees to verify the identities of telecom service providers, their officials as well as other entities.

The seamless mechanism will involve PTA for the constitution of applicant profiles of those fetching a PTA license.

Upon successful administration and creation of their tracking ID, applicants will be required to visit the nearest e-Sahulat outlet for biometric verification using their tracking ID, after which the verification will be provided to PTA.
