After a week following the reinstation of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in the country, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) seems dissented with the unbanning as it lodged an application in the Sindh High Court (SHC) to reconsider the decision or make amendments to it.

PTA’s lawyer, Ali Faisal submitted a reconsideration request of the current issue, in which he requested the court amendment or the withdrawal of decree.

PTA law Deputy Director Ali Akbar Sehtu and lawyer Ahsan Imam have also submitted the affidavits in the court.

According to the PTA law Deputy Director Ali Akbar Sehtu, the Ministry of Interior has not withdrawn the notification yet and it is still available. Additionally, the return of notification from the Interior Minister was based on a misunderstanding.

Akbar further highlighted that another case is under discussion with a similar bench of SHC and the notification regarding the formation of a steering committee has been taken back.

Mistakenly, both the cases got mixed up which baffled everyone and due to the misunderstanding, a statement was released regarding the ban of X. So these statements are contrary to the fact, as several cases of PTA are frequently appointed for hearing daily and the mistake occurred due to excessiveness of these cases.

Currently, a request has been submitted for the urgent hearing of PTA’s application.
