Despite long-stretched digital havoc involving the internet crisis in Pakistan and the government's inability to ensure a resolution, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is reportedly taking measures to widen the accessibility of the internet to the public.

The claim was made during a National Assembly (NA) session that advanced the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Amendment) Bill.

Addressing questions, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Nazeer Tarar said the PTA has allowed six gigahertz spectrum bands for the Radio Local Area Network operation being conducted without a license in Pakistan.

The minister added that the provision of the six-gigahertz spectrum band is aimed at facilitating and streamlining the deployment of 5G technology in Pakistan.

The constitution of the telecom infrastructure sharing framework was also finalised, which ensures the growth and sustainability of the telecom sector in Pakistan.
