PECA law and VPN whitelisting in Pakistan

Citing sources, The News reported that the registration of VPNs was being observed to mitigate the unethical use of VPNs, which is in compliance with the protocols needed to be fulfilled for the enactment of PECA law across the country.

For this purpose, the telecom regulator is also collaborating with the Ministry of IT, the Pakistan Software Export Board and freelancers to simplify the countrywide VPN whitelisting.

The noteworthy point is that the current drive of VPN registration is a buildup on the of the VPN whitelisting process which PTA has been carrying out since 2010.
