The Punjab government has allocated Rs4 billion to provide free solar panels to households across the province as part of the Punjab chief minister’s “Free Solar Panel Project.”

The funding being released by the Punjab Finance Department aims to address energy issues and promote sustainable power solutions.

The project will specifically benefit low-consumption households across Punjab.

Punjab’s Free Solar Panel Project

As part of the Free Solar Panel Project, households in Punjab using up to 200 units of electricity per month will receive solar panels at no cost.

However, consumers using between 200 and 500 units will receive subsidised solar panels, paying only 10% of the total cost, with the Punjab government covering the remaining 90%.

These payments would be done through interest-free, five-year instalments, making it affordable for middle-income households.

Earlier, Punjab’s Chief Minister had stated that this initiative is expected to reduce electricity bills by up to 40%, offering massive relief to households struggling financially.

Additionally, the Punjab Finance Department has allocated Rs40 million each for a new sports complex in Johar Town’s R2 Block and the development of facilities at Nishtar Park.

However, complete details of the funding allocations are available online, highlighting the Punjab government’s commitment to tackling both energy challenges and community development projects.
