Punjab govt launches laptop scheme: 35,000 students to receive free laptops

Out of 20,000, 14,000 college students and 2,000 medical students will get Core i7, 13th generation laptops

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a target-driven initiative, in which laptops will be distributed to students within 90 days.

This distribution of laptops will be available for select students such as position holders. Out of 20,000 university students, 14,000 college students, 4,000 industry and agriculture students, and 2,000 medical and dental students will be awarded Core i7, 13th generation laptops.

The other 2,000 laptops are reserved for the position holders of matriculation and Intermediate exams. 32% of the laptops have been allotted for Southern Punjab, out of which 5,000 will be given within 30 days and the rest of 35,000 will be distributed among students by February 20, 2025.  

Scholarship for female students in Pakistan

On the sidelines of the free laptop scheme, a scholarship program will also be provided on merit to 18,000 female students, providing them with an opportunity to enrol in higher education with full tuition fee exemption on four to five-year degree programs. 

30,000 students from public institutions and 10,000 from private institutes will be able to obtain these scholarships. 

A total of 68,329 applications for merit scholarships were received and 34,290 were verified. Punjab University’s public sector has experienced a 15.5% increase in enrollment. 

In the bulk sector of the institutions vice chancellor appointments have been completed for six universities process is still ongoing.
