In what served as a bummer to the entire world of technology, CrowdStrike has been awarded the Most Epic Fail after its faulty software update disrupted IT services across the globe.
Despite having prompted mayhem in the realm of technology, bagging a seemingly prestigious award could have an element of drawing public ire, as millions of Microsoft devices crashed due to the global IT outage.
The bizarre development comes around three weeks after CrowdStrike's software update led to what proved an unforgivable failing of a tech giant.

The multi-billion-dollar tech enterprise received the award at the Pwnie Awards 2024, with CrowdStrike President Michael Sentonas striding towards the stage to accept the award for Most Epic Fail.
The award-giving ceremony was held at Def Con following the Black Hat conference where CrowdStrike had docked a huge booth standing out among the rest, giving out free T-shirts and action figures.
Making rounds on the internet was also Sentonas’ speech at the event, wherein the awards audience looked content and appreciative of the company's acknowledgement of its follies, suggesting that CrowdStrike should be given a chance to recuperate.
Although a colossal trophy was on stage in sync with the crowds cheering, Sentonas said this is “definitely not the award to be proud of receiving.”
“I think the team was surprised when I said straightaway that I would get it. Because we got this horribly wrong, we’ve said this a number of different times, and it’s super important to own it when you do things well, it’s super important to own it when you do things horribly wrong,” Sentonas added.
