
In order to deduct Zakat, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and banks will remain closed for public dealing across the country on first Ramadan, which is likely to fall on Tuesday (March 12).
The central bank, in a notification issued on Friday, said: “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed for public dealing on 1st Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1445 A.H., which shall be observed as ‘Bank Holiday’ for the purpose of deduction of Zakat.”

According to the notification, all banks/development financial institutions (DFIs)/ microfinance banks (MFBs) will remain closed for public dealing on the aforementioned date.
However, all employees of the banks, DFIs and MFBs will attend the office on Bank Holiday treating it as a normal working day.
