Realme, a Chinese-owned smartphone manufacturer, has announced that it has shipped over 200 million smartphones since its inception more than five years ago.
The majority of the shipments have been made to China, making it the fifth fastest smartphone manufacturer to reach this milestone, according to Counterpoint Research, a market analytics firm.
Realme, which is owned by BBK Electronics, a Chinese consumer hardware giant that also owns brands including OPPO and Vivo, disclosed that it had shipped 200 million phones in the second quarter of this year, Reuters reported.

Counterpoint Research data showed that only four other companies, including Vivo and Huawei, as well as Samsung and Apple, have shipped the same number of phones in less time than Realme.
The data indicated that there are in total only 14 companies in the world that have attained such a huge number of smartphone units’ sales so far.
Xu Qi, chief marketing officer of the mobile company, said, "We came into existence when there were over 700 smartphone brands in the world."
He expressed pride for being able to maintain its position among the top 10 brands with consistency for over past five years.

In 2017, Counterpoint Research found that there were over 700 phone brands, and in September, that number had dropped to around 250.
Xu said that Realme is all set to grapple with premium phones with the upcoming launch of its flagship phone, the Realme GT 5 pro, which is expected to be one of the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 gen 3, as well as Sony’s latest camera sensor named Lytia.
Moreover, Xiaomi recently launched its smartphone, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, which is also powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
