Samsung has introduced an innovative medication tracking feature within its Health app, slated to roll out in the United States through an upcoming app update this week.
Enabling users to set medication reminders and prompt requests for refills from their healthcare providers, this edition aims to enhance health management.
Through this new tool, users can input details of their medication, such as pill characteristics, prescribed dosage, and scheduled intake times. Offering a comprehensive overview, the feature competes with similar platforms like GoodRx and Apple’s Medication app.
It includes insights into drug usage and potential side effects, accompanied by warnings on possible contraindications. Samsung emphasizes that the information provided is sourced from evidence-based content licensed from Elsevier, a specialised medical content publisher.
To access this new tool, users will require a smartphone running at least Android 8.0, with the Samsung Health app updated to version 6.26 or higher. However, the feature's availability may differ based on the device.
