Samsung has quietly launched a next-generation version of its Bixby assistant, exclusively available on the newly released W25 and W25 Flip phones in China.

This upgraded Bixby version is part of Samsung’s ongoing effort to enhance its AI capabilities and is powered by Samsung’s large language model, making it smarter and more responsive.

What is Samsung Bixby?

Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant, helps users perform a range of tasks, from setting reminders to translating text. The latest upgrade takes Bixby’s abilities a step further, allowing it to understand more complex commands and perform a wider variety of tasks.

For example, users can now give Bixby multiple instructions within a single command, such as generating content for documents like PowerPoint slides and Word files or translating entire web pages.

Bixby can also recognise on-screen context, meaning users can ask it to “navigate here” when viewing a location on the screen, and it will follow through.

Additionally, this upgraded Bixby allows for continuous conversation, making interactions smoother and more natural.

The W25 and W25 Flip phones, exclusively available in China, serve as enhanced versions of Samsung’s foldable Z Fold Special Edition and Z Flip 6.

Samsung Bixby availability

The advanced Bixby features on these models are currently limited to the Chinese market, but Samsung has hinted that it might expand availability to other regions in the future.

This new Bixby experience could mark a significant step forward for Samsung’s virtual assistant as it competes with other advanced AI assistants.

Fans outside China are eagerly hoping for a global release to enjoy the improved functionality. Until then, Samsung’s W25 series provides a glimpse into what Bixby might soon offer worldwide.
