
Samsung has officially launched its new 990 EVO Plus Gen4 Solid-State Drive (SSD), offering faster speeds and power efficiency at a reduced price.
Mainly renowned for manufacturing high-end smartphones, tablets, and laptops, the South Korean tech giant has been designing computer parts for years.
The original 990 EVO SSD was launched back in January 2024 and now, in less than a year, Samsung’s new SSD has arrived with some promising upgrades.

The improved performance and greater storage of the Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 comes as great news for gamers, and video editors as it will provide more storage and help desktops to run programs faster.
Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs features
In a press release, the tech giant revealed that the 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs can read up to 7,250 MB/s and write in speed 6,300 MB/s respectively. The device also features random read and write speeds of up to 1,050K IOPS and 1,400K IOPS.
The new SSDs house a nickel-coated heat shield that is used for reducing overheating and AES 256-bit Full Disk Encryption.
The 990 EVO Plus is also equipped with intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 software, offering rapid file transfer speeds and reduced lag for managing large files, editing high-resolution videos, and experiencing next-generation gaming.
The tech giant also revealed that the sequential read and write speeds have improved by 50% while power efficiency has improved by 73% compared to the older model.
Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs pricing
The Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs’ 1TB variant is priced at $109.99, while the 2TB and 4TB are $184.99 and $344.99, respectively.
Notably, this is a lower price compared to Samsung’s 990 EVO SSDs, which cost $124.99 for the 1TB model and $209.99 for the 2TB model.
