In October 2024, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 2,477 new companies, bringing the total number of registered businesses in the country to 233,587.

However, this growth reflects rising confidence in Pakistan’s corporate sector and its continued expansion.

The SECP’s focus on digitisation has played a major role in this success. About 99% of the new companies were registered through its efficient online system, making the process quicker and more transparent.

This move is part of the SECP’s broader effort to create a tech-driven regulatory environment that supports ease of doing business and attracts both local and international investors.

The majority of new registrations were private limited companies, making up 57% of the total.

Single-member companies accounted for 41%, while the remaining 2% were public unlisted companies, not-for-profit organisations, trade organisations, and limited liability partnerships (LLPs).

Growth was particularly strong in the information technology and e-commerce sectors, which saw 556 new companies registered.

China was the largest investor, contributing to the establishment of 39 new companies, making SECP more attractive to global investors.
