Apple is set to release iOS 18.0 to the public next week meanwhile it is also testing iOS 18.1 beta which will be released in October. However, reports suggest, Siri has suddenly stopped working on iPhones and iPads running the latest beta of iOS 18.1.

Alongside, several other Apple Intelligence features, the tech giant also announced an upgraded version of its personal voice assistant Siri which is expected to go live soon.

Siri stops for iOS 18.1 beta

Many Apple users have reported that Siri suddenly stopped working on their iPhones and iPads with the latest iOS 18.1 beta.

According to reports surfacing, impacted users are experiencing an error that says "Siri not available" as well as "Data for Siri is downloading."

The error also states, "Connect to Wi-Fi to complete Siri download," while the download remains stuck at 99% and Siri remains unavailable.

Notably, not all users are affected by this error, but for those who experience it, even rebooting the device does not address the issue.

It appears that the problem is related to the update of Apple Intelligence language models, which might have been broken in the new iOS 18.1 beta released for iPhone 16 models. However, Macs running the macOS 15.1 beta do not experience this error.

Currently, it is unknown what exactly happened with Siri, whether Apple will be able to resolve this issue with a server-side update, or whether a new iOS 18.1 beta will be needed.
