Shortly after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite transforming the realm of smartphone processors, fresh leaks have begun to surface, shedding light on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.
Qualcomm is expected to “significantly” raise the price of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor slated to launch next year, Android Authority reported while citing KiPost, a Korean new outlet.
The speculated price hike for the Snapdragon 8 Elite's follow-up chipset follows a 20-30% increase in the cost of its predecessor.
Since the development is tentative, it remains to be officially confirmed by the company. And if it has anything to go by, then could fray the nerves of smartphone makers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Given that, OEMs and mobile makers may be driven to recompense the significant price surge by overcharging consumers or by downgrading their phones to avoid losses.
An earlier leak regarding Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 came from prolific tipster Digital Chat Station, suggesting that the chipset will be designed with TSMC’s N3P, the company's third-generation 3nm process.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 performance
If comes true, it would mark an improvement over the second-generation 3nm process (N3E) used on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The next Snapdragon chipset will also register a considerable boost in is clock speeds, potentially obtaining a 20% performance gain.
