Qualcomm is set to announce its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip during Qualcomm's annual Snapdragon Summit in October. However, prior to the launch, a new leak has revealed the expected pricing for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to be pricier than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

A new leak from renowned tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo suggested that the upcoming premium chipsets from Qualcomm will likely be pricier than their earlier versions.

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC might see a 20% price hike. The increased pricing was attributed to the expenses associated with TSMC's advanced 3nm manufacturing process.

Following the increase, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to cost about $190. To be noted, MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 is likely to cost around $155.

However, this isn’t the first time the rising cost of upcoming chips has leaked. In June, industry analyst Min-Chu Kuo predicted an even steeper increase, suggesting a 25-30% hike in the chipsets pricing.

That said, Digital Chat Station has a solid track record, and therefore, the aforesaid claims are likely to be true.

Despite this potential price increase, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s custom Oryon CPU is expected to offer a more enhanced performance compared to Apple's iPhones.
