Sonos released a new update for its app on both Android and iOS platforms to fix several app instability issues during the setup process. It also includes an option to clear your music queue on Android.
In addition, the updates carry along with them improved accessibility settings and a toggle labelled 'Sound Bar Night Mode' that amplifies clarity for dialogue without actually increasing the volume.
While a significant update, it barely scratches the surface of the problems described by users. Sonos Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Spence acknowledged that the app is mediocre and promised to make sure that patching the app now comes above all other considerations.

However, the delay of two new products and the refusal to rerelease the old app disappointed some users.
The update is just the beginning of how Sonos can refine the app with many features pending additions. Future updates will make volume more responsive, queue editing much easier, and alarms more reliable.
Sonos is going to continue down the roadmap of making sure that it keeps users with confidence, and that rough edges get smoothed out within the app experience.
Users have been quite vocal over time with their frustrations of the connectivity issues, usability, and a few features being removed. Given that this update tackles some of those, it is obvious that Sonos still has a long way to go to regain users' trust.
