Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has become a testing ground for PlayStation's AI-driven game development plan.
The recent Sony 2024 Company Report revealed that machine learning was used to streamline the subtitling process for certain languages in Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an open-world game with abundant action elements and was developed by Insomniac Games.
Players assume the role of Spider-Man as he patrols the exciting New York City fights supervillains and saves citizens.
Sony supported subtitling using voice-recognition software in some languages, which directly synchronised subtitles with dialogue and thus saved enormous amounts of time on subtitling.
The AI app accompanying Spider-Man 2 was released in 27 languages with text support, and in fully dubbed audio, there were 12 languages. That app is one component of a much larger move by Sony to "deliver our IP quickly and at low cost to a wider range of fans."

The other biggest gaming company joining the list, besides EA and Microsoft, in taking up AI-driven development is Sony. Nintendo does not believe AI can create games.
While many companies are excited about introducing the potential of AI in game development, some of the companies have integrated this innovative technology that might have the potential to replace the human workforce.
Most notably, the SAG-AFTRA-the union responsible for the voice actors and mo-cap performers in video game have already created a hue and cry in their industry because the development of AI has been feared to replace human talent, which led to strikes.
