To compete with Nintendo Switch 2 and Valve Steam Deck, Sony is set to develop handheld PS5 devices named PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PS Vita, along with bringing exciting devices.
Sony is planning to introduce these systems, but they are years away from its release, with a dangling possibility of Sony canceling the project. Initially, it is planned to be a device similar to the Steam Deck PlayStation Portable. However, with the new cloud-streaming beta premium members of PlayStation Plus would be allowed to play games without the need for PS5.
Its competitor Microsoft is also exploring the option of a handheld Xbox, although it is also a few years away from its release.
Sony’s last portable handheld device PS Vita was launched in 2011 in Japan and in 2012 in North America, but then the company discontinued it in 2019. Just before the release of PSP in 2004 in Japan and 2005 in North America was released to compete with Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance and DS.
