Spotify today unveiled that it has rolled out music video support in 85 additional markets, letting premium users view a “limited catalogue” of videos from artists, such as Charlie XCX, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Fontaines D.C., LISA, and more.
Primarily, the music streaming company launched the music videos in beta in 12 countries, including the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Kenya, and Egypt.
However, Spotify didn’t indicate if these 85 new markets included the United States (US) as it’s a large market for the streaming giant but was skipped in the first set of regions where music videos were available. It is important to note that the music video feature is exclusive to only paid users.
The service’s music videos are available on mobile and desktop, letting users easily switch between audio and video through a toggle. Initially, when you switched from audio to video, the video would start playing from the beginning, but now Spotify has made the switch more flawless.

In addition, Spotify said to integrate video indicators next to track names so you can identify them easily in search results. Users can turn their phone in the landscape mode to switch to the full-screen video.
Spotify stated: “We’re always working to build lasting connections between artists and fans, adding features like Countdown Pages, Canvas, Clips from your artists, Artist Profiles, Live Events, and Merch to deliver a rich music listening experience.”
The music streaming service claimed that consumers who search for a song and watch the music video on the app are 34% more likely on average to stream the song again the following week.
