Google Gemini Assistant has proved to be a great substitute for Google Assistants, allowing you to use other Google and third-party apps within the voice assistant.
The company currently offers a YouTube Music extension; however, it is now set to be integrated into Spotify, a popular music streaming platform.
An APK teardown of the Google app (version 15.30.27.29) has revealed that a Gemini extension for Spotify is in the works.

The report suggests that this extension will let you play both important features of the music streaming app such as music and podcasts.
Here’s how Gemini extension works in Spotify
When you ask Gemini to play a song via Spotify, Gemini will show a YouTube Music info card after processing the request but will play the song on Spotify. The chatbot can play music via Spotify in the background rather than launching the app.
For example, a user can request, ‘Play me rock music radio’ which triggers playback from their Liked Music playlist. Once a command is given, Gemini displays a card showing the album art, artist name, song duration and play count.
To complete your request Gemini will access and manage items from Spotify such as playlists, liked songs, and playback history.
If this extension gets integrated into Spotify, it would open up the ability to get Gemini to play music with voice commands.
In this way, there would be no need to sign up for YouTube Music Premium if you want Gemini integration on your Android device.
Since the upgrade is still in process so there is no confirmed date when will this feature rollout.
However, this is not the only Gemini extension in the process as several more unannounced extensions are in the works such as Google Home, and the Phone app.
