Spotify has successfully restored its services following a brief outage that left thousands of listeners without access to music and podcasts, according to a report.

Citing the outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Reuters reported that the disruption crippled the audio-streaming platform on Sunday and lasted for approximately three hours. In the US, over 40,000 users were impacted, with complaints peaking at 15,000 by 11:35 am ET.

Meanwhile in India, error reports started flooding around 9:30 pm IST, according to the Uptime, a monitoring website.

Affected users reported errors on both Spotify’s mobile app and website, receiving messages like "something went wrong."

Taking to its Status page, Spotify acknowledged the disruption of its services stating “We are aware of issues right now and are checking them out.”

However, an hour later on X (formerly Twitter), Spotify’s official account posted, "Everything's looking much better now!"

During the outage, users were unable to stream anything, including the recently played songs, and their playlists while music randomly stopped playing for many users.

While the audio streaming platform has come to a stable state, the root cause of the service disruptions was not disclosed by Spotify.
