Entering a new year brings a fresh batch of projects that occupy our computer storage. For many of us, it involves assessing the space left on our external hard drives and considering new storage options if needed. Amid the January sales, I stumbled upon a remarkable deal on Samsung's latest high-speed external SSD, the Samsung T9 4TB SSD, on Amazon, now at a 35% discount, slashed from $459 to $299.99.

Previously relying on the Samsung T7 Shield as my daily backup, I found it satisfactory. However, the T9, launched in October, boasts double the speed. Seduced by a Black Friday offer, I upgraded, and the enhanced speed notably benefits when handling sizable files like hefty 4K video files.

Regrettably, the UK market lacks such appealing discounts for the T9 Shield. Across the Atlantic, my preference leans toward the T7 Touch, previously regarded as the best external SSD available. Amazon has reduced the 2TB version from £227.49 to £131.95, marking a 42% discount.

Although some promising January sale hard drive deals, particularly on SanDisk SSDs, catch my eye, I've grown a tad apprehensive about their Extreme Pro SSDs due to reports of failures over the past year.

My loyalty remains with Samsung, having used the T7 since its launch in early 2022. The T9, though skipping T8 for reasons unknown, offers broad compatibility, a robust build, textured finish, and impressive read and write speeds of up to 2,000MB/s, nearly doubling the T7's 1050MB/s.
