Almost a month after unveiling its most ambitious console game called Last Sentinel, Chinese tech magnate Tencent has discontinued its US video game studio Team Kaiju.
The US-based gaming studio is considered pivotal in Tencent’s global expansion plan. However, the developer has taken the decision to stand as a competent contender for the Western gaming industry.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that the company hasn’t unemployed the members of the Team Kaijo, but has embarked them on another game under Tencent.

With its website also being disabled, Team Kaijo has worked beside a veteran game designer Scott Warner for some heftily-budgeted multiplayer titles.
Warner was hired by Tencent in 2020 with his positioning at Tencent getting attributed to his being the director of a title like “Halo 4”. However, as per his LinkedIn account, Warner left Team Kaiju in April.
Tencent is best known for developing super-hit titles like PUBG Mobile that amassed global acclaim, especially from Chinese players.
Tencent turns to ByteDance to endorse Dreamstar
In another significant development, Tencent, to keep its status in China, is mending ties with its archrival ByteDance by opting to endorse its most important video game, Dreamstar, on ByteDance's well-known advertising platforms.
The biggest Chinese gaming firm on Friday launched party game DreamStar, which it believes will battle Eggy Party, a similar offering from NetEase, which is now rejoicing an active user base of 100 million.
