As a promise made at the Made by Google event, it was fulfilled with the Google Pixel 9 phones dropping on buyers' doorsteps last week.

Although it was a little disappointing to see the latest Pixel series launching with a stale Android 14 update, Google has announced support starting today for the latest Android update, Android 15, which has come deep into production, slated to release soon in a stable form.

Google rolled out Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1 last week, but the software lacked compatibility with the latest Pixel 9 series, fortunately, Google seems to be well considerate of that, as the latest Android 15 beta version, Android beta 1.1, is compatible with Pixel phones, but not all.

Android 15 QPR1 released

With the new Android 15 QPR1 Beta 1.1 released, the Pixel 9 is on the list of devices that can join in on testing not only Android 15 but also the impending December Feature Drop.

As mentioned in the release notes by Google, the latest Android 15 beta comes with no significant enhancements but one: resolving the automatic rebooting of Pixel phones. The fix applies to the latest Pixel series as well.

It should be noted that only the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL were mentioned by Google to be the Pixel 9 variants that can run the recently rolled out Android 15 beta update.
