TikTok has taken a new step to enhance the user’s experience by introducing a feature called “Manage Topics” that allows users to manage the content they see on their “For You” feed.

The update is being rolled out to TikTok users in the US, letting them customise their feed with sliders for specific content interests.

The slider tool enables individuals to alter the For You page with a preference for more content on specific topics such as food & drinks, health & fitness, education, sports, travel, dance, and more.

Users can access the tool by navigating to Settings, selecting “Content Preferences” and then clicking the “Manage Topics” option. It enables users to adjust sliders to amplify or reduce the content of different topics.

However, if someone is uncertain about which type of videos fall under a certain category, they can click the “information” button next to a topic.

TikTok stated these selections will help the app show more or less of a particular topic in the For You feed. However, it won’t impact the content users see from accounts they already follow.

The app also revealed that the feature might take some time to personalise the feed based on selections, so immediate changes shouldn’t be expected.
