TikTok is now offering its redesigned “Subscription” feature to non-live creators in select regions, enabling more users to build an audience of paying subscribers within the platform.
TikTok expands Subscriptions feature
Initially, the platform introduced subscriptions for live creators in 2022. However, during the US creator summit, TikTok revealed its plans to rename its Live Subscription monetisation tool to expand subscriptions to non-live creators.

“Subscription allows creators to offer their most engaged followers special access to exclusive perks, and a members-only community for a monthly fee. Building on the strong, authentic connections, creators can use the feature to provide an exclusive space to encourage more meaningful engagement,” TikTok stated.
This recent upgrade responds to Patreon, a platform that lets people share exclusive content with paid subscribers.
Additionally, other social media platforms that offer similar Subscription features include Instagram Subscriptions and YouTube’s channel memberships. Both platforms offer these subscriptions which allow creators to increase their earnings by giving users access to additional perks.
Creators will be able to customise their subscription packages into three different pricing tiers each providing various exclusive perks for a monthly fee.
Private Communication Channels: Access to various communication channels such as Sub Space, chat messages, and comments to interact with subscribers.
Exclusive Content: Special videos, Lives, and notes are only visible to subscribers.
Customised perks: TikTok provides ready-made perks, including performance requests, shoutouts, Discord roles and Live topics.
Community Identifiers: Special stickers to use during Lives with badges that appear beside the subscribers’ names on profiles and in comments.
It’s important to note that to access Subscription, creators are required to be at least 18 years old and have 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the previous calendar month.
Currently, TikTok’s expanded subscription offering is being rolled out to eligible creators in select regions, including Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, the UK, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the US, and has plans to expand the feature to more countries in the coming weeks.
