TikTok, a short-form video platform, claimed that the security team is treating an issue that let hackers negotiate various high-profile celebrity and brand accounts on TikTok.
The company didn’t give any information about the nature of the attack or the mitigation techniques. However, the company has taken steps to stop the attack and avoid it from happening in the future.
Previously, the malicious attack unfolded to have included malware transferred through TikTok’s direct messages and may have impacted the account owner’s capability to use their TikTok profiles.

Earlier, CNN’s account was hacked by a hacker, causing the account to be taken down for numerous days. The news organisation confirmed that it was engaged with TikTok on additional steps to ensure the account is secured in the future, along with the US presidential elections. TikTok didn’t share further details about the nature of the attack or its steps to protect.
The company’s spokesperson stated, “Our security team is aware of a potential exploit targeting several high-profile accounts. We have taken measures to stop this attack and prevent it from happening in the future. We’re working directly with affected account owners to restore access if needed.”
The attacks appeared at a time when TikTok’s power in the US was under question. According to national security threats, President Biden signed an agreement that pressured TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to sell the platform or get banned in the US.
