Indus Motor Company (IMC), the manufacturer of Toyota vehicles, has announced to temporarily suspend its operations and production facility in Pakistan starting December 16.
The decision to suspend operations for a full 15 days is part of the company’s planned annual maintenance activities.
In a statement issued on Friday, the company notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) about its upcoming maintenance plans, as required under the Securities Act, 2015, and PSX regulations.
“We would like to inform you that the company has scheduled its annual maintenance activities for the plant involved in the manufacturing and assembly of vehicles,” IMC explained.
“Therefore, the company has decided to temporarily suspend operations and its production facility from December 16, 2024, to December 31, 2024,” the statement added.
IMC has assured that these activities are part of its routine efforts to enhance operational efficiency and maintain high manufacturing standards in the country.
That said, this production halt will likely affect vehicle output during the abovementioned period.
However, it's worth mentioning that despite recent IMC plant closures, the company witnessed a significant increase in sales, with a 56% increase to 8,692 units in the first four months of FY25, compared to 5,558 units in the same period last year.
