Toyota Motors has confirmed its plan to release a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) as Suzuki Motor's Indian unit will supply Toyota with its first-ever electric vehicle (EV), marking their inaugural collaboration on green vehicles.
Earlier, Suzuki and Toyota also collaborated on developing combustion fuel and hybrid vehicles. Several Toyota models such as the Corolla Touring Sports and RAV4 have been rebranded and sold as Suzuki cars in Europe, while some Suzuki models have been rebranded as Toyotas in other markets.

Showcased at India’s Auto Expo in Delhi last year, the EV will be a four-wheel sport utility vehicle. It offers the combined benefits of BEV efficiency, range and off-road functionality with a 4WD system.
The upcoming model will be a variant of the Suzuki eVX, boasting a 60-kWh battery pack and an impressive 500km range, designed for exceptional performance on challenging terrain.
Toyota President Koji Sato shared his opinion about this step forward in their collaboration with Suzuki.
"We would like to learn from each other's strengths, compete, and further joint efforts based on a multi-pathway approach," Sato stated.
However, Suzuki president Toshihiro Suzuki also expressed gratitude for the partnership.
“I am grateful that the collaboration between the two companies has further deepened in this way,” Suzuki concluded.
The electric SUV production is slated to begin in spring 2025 at Maruti Suzuki's plant in the Western Gujarat, India.
