The rumour mill that produced hoaxes around the Made by Google event has stopped, as the tech world has moved past that event and now eyeing for insights into what Apple has for its upcoming hardware event slated to kick off in Fall.
While the upcoming Apple event is all about the release of the iPhone 16 series, a Bloomberg report suggested that Apple is gearing up to launch two variants of its fourth-generation AirPods at the upcoming event.
The report outlines that one of them is said to be to offer basic functionality, the reason being its affordable price tag, while the other will be the costlier one which would be more efficient with active noise cancellation (ANC).

Rumour has it that the high-end AirPods model is expected to replace the current third-generation model of the AirPods lineup.
The decision to replace the AirPods 3 in the lineup is derived from a transition Apple has undertaken for the charging case, as it's transitioning to USB-C, whereas the charging case for the AirPods 3 features a Lightning port. The first ever AirPods model that featured a USB-C was Apple's second-gen AirPods Pro.
Apart from the case, the upcoming AirPods are expected to receive new firmware which would incorporate new head gesture controls and improved noise isolation.
In the audio compartment, both models may boast Spatial Audio features, not to mention the ability to charge Apple Watch the AirPods case.
When's the next Apple event
The next and upcoming Apple event is expected in September, when Apple is going to release its new iPhone series, along with other products like Apple Watch updates, AirPods and other accessories for its flagship products.
