Uber has stepped into the ever-evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI) based on OpenAI’s technology, diversifying its ecosystem to assist its drivers in adopting electric vehicles (EVs), as a part of their efforts to reduce emissions.

The ride-hailing company launched its AI smart agent at Uber's Go-Get Zero event in London on Tuesday, which is all set to roll out at the beginning of 2025 in the United States (US), which will be later followed by a launch in other countries.

Uber has prompted a move to EVs for a few years and offered around $800 million to assist its diver’s partner in adequately moving to EVs by 2040.

According to Uber, the AI assistant will be a helpful chatbot that will offer personalised answers according to the driver’s city and eligible incentives. Furthermore, the company plans to diversify that chatbot's utilisation to instantly resolve queries and streamline operations beyond the EV in the first quarter of 2025.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated: "Uber drivers are adopting EVs five times faster than the average motorist in the US, Canada and Europe. In London, nearly 30% of all miles driven on Uber are now electric."

Uber is all set to launch a mentorship program for the drivers who are currently planning to adopt EVs, the main idea of this progressive initiative is to connect experienced EV drivers with them to easily switch, without struggling.
