The globally famed ride-hailing service provide Uber is partnering with Revel — a New York-based firm hosting EV charging infrastructure alongside cab-booking service— in a bid to endorse Revel's EV charging services and get discounted EV charging for Uber drivers in return.
New York's Revel charging stations
The vehicles representing Revel's vehicle fleet in the New York are blue Teslas. While the company plans to own 500 stations in NYC and the Bay Area by 2025, it currently has 3 fast charging stations of 54 level in Brooklyn and Queens that are known as Superhubs.
With the partnership, Uber too is planning to expand its electric vehicle charging infrastructure in New York City, including 48 public fast chargers at LaGuardia Airport. To support this expansion, Uber is making a financial commitment to Revel, promising to get a certain number of charges at existing and future Revel stations.

Cheap EV charging for Uber drivers
On top of that, Uber will provide aggregated and analysed data to help Revel determine the best locations install charging facilities in future. In return, Uber drivers will receive up to 25% off at every Revel charging station, depending on their status with the Uber Pro rewards program.
This agreement aims to encourage Uber drivers to adopt electric vehicles in cities where public charging infrastructure is limited, addressing the issue of "urban charging deserts." Uber seems committed to become a zero-emission platform by 2040 and aims to have 100% electric vehicles in North America and Europe by 2030.
According to a Bloomberg report, cited by PCMag, the use of non-Tesla EV charging stations nearly doubled in 2023, indicating a growing demand for electric vehicle infrastructure.
