Vinfast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, introduced the VF Wild, a medium-sized electric pickup, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES). While the VF Wild is currently in the conceptual stage, the company executives have indicated their plans to move forward with the production of a similar truck.

“This is not just a new product in our offering — it showcases our aspiration to venture into the fast-paced and thriving electric pickup truck market,” Tran Mai Hoa, VinFast’s deputy chief executive for sales and marketing said in an announcement.

The VF Wild is slightly more compact than mid-sized pickups such as the Toyota Tacoma or Ford Ranger. Like contemporary mid-size pickups, it features four doors, two rows of seats, and a cargo bed measuring around five feet in length, as reported by CNN.

The rear wall of the VF Wild's passenger compartment has the capability to fold down, creating an open connection to the cargo bed at the back.

When the back wall is lowered, the rear seats also fold down, enabling the transport of items up to eight feet in length within the combined cabin and cargo bed. This functionality resembles a feature found in General Motors' Chevrolet Silverado EV electric pickup.

VinFast VF 3

VinFast also showcased a subcompact electric SUV, the VF 3, which is already available for purchase in Vietnam and is set to enter the US market.

The boxy two-door VF 3 is notably compact, even smaller than other subcompact vehicles currently available in the US, surpassing the likes of the Kia Rio or Nissan Versa in terms of front-to-back dimensions.

Despite its small size, VinFast assures "ample" interior space. Due to its compact nature, the number of battery cells it can accommodate is limited, resulting in a range of approximately 125 miles on a single charge, which is less than many other electric vehicles are currently offering.
