Vivo has rolled out the November 2024 update for its OriginOS 5 in China, with several exciting features. OriginOS is the company's custom Android interface, providing users with a different and customised experience.
Funtouch OS is similar software that Vivo uses in other markets. It is also expected to get similar updates soon. This update brings along with it a wide array of improvements, ranging from security upgrades to new functionality.
New Atomic Notification Island features
One of the significant improvements is the enhanced Atomic Notification Island. This feature provides new gestures, which would allow users to swipe left or right to minimise or reopen the notification island. The layout has become more responsive, giving a smooth user experience.
Cleaner home screen and updated calculator
The new home screen can now keep app labels hidden in line with the minimalism trend, but in addition, the Calculator app now saves past calculations to be used on future demand.
Enhanced control centre with gestures
The update also brings enhancements to the control centre. With new swipe gestures, users can swipe left to access notifications and swipe right to return to the controls, making one-handed use much easier.
Better sensor access control and security updates
Furthermore, the update gives better control over sensor access, ensuring that apps can’t access sensitive hardware like cameras or microphones without permission.
OriginOS 5 has been enhanced with a feature where users can reset their password within 96 hours if they forget the new one using their old password. Improvements and features make the OriginOS 5 update exciting for Vivo users, bringing in new levels of customisation and security to their devices.
Vivo OriginOS update availability
The Vivo OriginOS 5 update is already available on devices like the Vivo S20 series and iQOO Neo 10. Still, the update is still rolling out, so it might not reach all devices immediately.
