Vivo is set to enter the mixed reality (MR) market with the launch of a new headset next year, poised to compete with Apple Vision Pro.
With Apple Vision Pro’s underwhelming sales performance, the tech giant is confident in its ability to deliver a superior product compared to its competitors.
Vivo’s mixed reality headset
At an event, the company announced that the mixed reality headset will be likely showcased as a prototype in September or October 2025, with features that promise to surpass those present in Apple Vision Pro.
However, it should be noted that by the time Vivo’s headset comes out, Apple’s device will have been in the market for more than a year and a half.
For the development of the headset, Vivo has assembled a dedicated team of 500 members, indicating the company's commitment to serving this segment.
While the Apple Vision Pro's sales have been mediocre, Vivo may find success if it can offer a similar experience at a lower price point.
Vivo’s mixed reality headset availability
The Vivo mixed reality device will be going through "high-fidelity prototype experiences" in several Chinese cities by late 2025. Meanwhile, the device's official launch date remains uncertain.
