WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps, is said to roll out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, inducing the version up to 2.24.17.21. WhatsApp is set to release a like-reaction feature for status updates, and it's offered to some beta testers.

What's new?

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a new feature to react to status updates. Users can express their regard about a status update by adding a quick reaction directly on the status screen.

The update would improve user interactions by letting them engage with status updates without disrupting the conversation. It seems that WhatsApp is now checking this feature with the public, as some beta testers can now experiment with a quick reaction feature directly within the status screen.

Some beta testers can now react to status updates using a heart emoji. When a user responds to a status update with the new reaction button, the recipients will receive a notification that someone liked their status update.

All users who reacted to the status update will be listed within the usual viewers sheet, making it simple to track who liked the shared content. This centralised lineup assures that users can immediately view the viewers and those who reacted, all in one place.

It is important to highlight that these reactions are private and protected by end-to-end encryption. This results, in nobody other than the recipient being able to view who reacted to the status update, assuring that these interactions remain confidential and visible only to the intended person.

A like reaction feature for status updates is available to some beta testers who download the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and it is set to launch for all users soon.
