WhatsApp, known for its safe and secure communication features, continues to enhance user experience with new updates.

Currently, WhatsApp is developing its own animated emojis for the iOS version, similar to Telegram's animated emoji feature. This follows the release of the first animated emoji in beta for Android users last month.

The latest beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone has introduced a few animated emojis, replacing Apple's default iOS emojis. These include the wink, laughing face, and red heart emojis.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has initially selected some of the most popular emojis to animate, with plans to add more in the future.

How it works

When a user selects an emoji on the iPhone keyboard, they will see the standard iOS emoji designed by Apple. However, after sending it in a WhatsApp conversation, the app will display the animated version created by Meta. Tapping the emoji will repeat the animation.

There is no confirmation on when WhatsApp plans to roll out this update to the public, and it remains unclear whether Apple will approve this update.

Additionally, WhatsApp has recently introduced a feature called WhatsApp Nearby Share. This allows users to send files to others even without a Wi-Fi or cellular connection, working between Android and iOS through a QR Code.
