WhatsApp is all set to evolve the tech market with another artificial intelligence (AI) technology reportedly named 'voice mode' — the new feature that can enable WhatsApp users to interact with Meta AI through a hands-free conversation.

However, rumours are surfacing that with this new feature, WhatsApp users would now be able to also talk back to the AI chatbot.

What's new?

The voice mode feature of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS would be able to allow the users to start a conversation through WhatsApp voice with Meta AI.

The feature is expected to add a voice icon next to the text input field, which opens a bottom sheet with the interface of the Meta AI.

According to WABetaInfo, the users might receive up to 10 different voices, each with unique characteristics such as accents, energy, or tonalities.

How it works

When users tap the voice icon, Meta AI responds with Hello and an audio waveform icon, indicating it's listening.

Another important inclusion is that this feature would turn on the captions and transcriptions with the addition of text-to-speech, documenting the whole conversation for later reference.

The rumoured feature can be a massive step of WhatsApp regarding implementing AI technology to better the in-app experience and make it more accessible.

It has the potential to revolutionise how users interact with the app — making it more conversational and engaging.
