The best time to shop during Black Friday

Although Black Friday deals have been made available online, there are some deals that can only be availed in stores. It means that you are bound to wait in endless queues and walk through densely packed crowds in order to have the best bargain.

But set your worries aside because Google has analysed foot traffic data gathered by monitoring U.S.-based smartphone users’ locations between Nov. 1 and Dec. 25 last year to exactly pinpoint the hours in which stores are spilt the most.

When you should shop on Black Friday

According to Google’s data, on Black Friday, the heaviest traffic is observed in the afternoon hours rather than the morning. It’s lowest between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., with the crowds starting to pick up around 8 a.m.

Foot traffic peaks between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., which is when you should avoid shopping if you want to steer clear of the crowds. The best way to bypass the mobs of Black Friday shoppers seems to be getting up early. Google’s graph suggests that foot traffic across all types of retail shops is lowest at around 5 a.m.

Although the occasion is primarily and immensely famed for shopping, most stores witness better foot traffic as it gets closer to Christmas.

The only exception are the electronics stores as they face peak foot traffic the day after Thanksgiving.
