Clearing all speculations surrounding his decision to postpone his trip to India, Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Saturday clarified that ‘Tesla obligations’ forced him to delay his visit.
Earlier this month, Musk announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that his meeting was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled.
Following the announcement, speculations spurred among people that the 52-year-old billionaire was planning to set up a Tesla manufacturing plant in India as the news came just days after a notification was issued from the Union government.
The notification was about a new electric vehicle manufacturing policy that allows the government to give duty concessions to electric car companies committing to make in India.
Following the news that the Tesla CEO postponed his trip — originally scheduled for April 21 and 22 — people started speculating change in plans; however, taking to X, Musk informed that the decision was because of his work commitments.
“Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year,” he wrote on X.
It seems "Tesla's earnings call on April 23" is the reason behind the delay.
