Microsoft, the American tech giant, has begun checking a new way to access your Android phone directly within Windows 11’s File Explorer.
Currently, Windows Insiders are capable of testing this new feature, which allows you to wirelessly browse through folders and files on your Android phone.
The integration in File Explorer signifies your Android device like a regular USB device on the left-hand side, with the capability to copy or move files between a PC and an Android phone and rename or delete them. It’s surely a lot quicker than using the existing Phone Link app.
Requirements to join Window Insider programme
You’ll be required a device running Android version 11 or higher, be part of the Windows Insider programme, and the beta version of the Link to Windows app to receive the feature working.

All four Windows Insider channels are receiving access to test this, involving the Release Preview ring — which indicated that it won’t be long until everyone running the latest Windows 11 update will be able to access this new feature.
You can turn on the File Explorer feature by navigating to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mobile Devices and selecting the Manage Devices section to let your PC connect to your Android phone.
A prompt will include a toggle for access in File Explorer, along with the usual selections for notifications and camera access in the Windows 11 update.
